Heavenly View Key Point: Seek God and His righteousness above all that is in the world. Key Passage: Matthew 6:19-34 Background Matthew 6 records a portion of Christ’s Sermon on the Mount and focuses on relationship with our heavenly Father. The chapter begins with caution concerning how we practice righteousness. Our righteousness isn’t meant for people pleasing, personal pride, or self-righteousness. No, our righteous deeds overflow from an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father. All we do is in honor and love for God. Beginning in Matthew 6:19, Jesus cautions how we relate to the world. Nothing in this world is of greater value than the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, yet we seek/pursue worldly things over godly things. Read Matthw 6:22-24
